Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
Due to the unusually high number of students on the waiting list to join chorus/drama, attendance will be more strictly enforced this year. Students are allowed two unexcused absences per concert season (winter concert season: September-December, spring concert season: January-May). Absences accrued during the winter concert season will not carry over into the spring concert season.
An unexcused absence is an absence from rehearsal after attending school the same day. Appointments are not considered excused unless discussed with and approved by Mrs. Bird at least one day before rehearsal.
Example 1: Samantha has one unexcused absence in October and another in November. She is able to sing in the winter concert in December and keep her spot in chorus/drama. When rehearsals begin again in January after the winter break, Samantha no longer has the two unexcused absences. She is allowed two additional unexcused absences for the spring concert season.
Example 2: Riley has three unexcused absences in February. Her spot will now be given to a student on the chorus/drama waiting list.
